Stratford-upon-Avon

Nick Jones has kindly let me have a design based on some of the misericords at Holy Trinity, Stratford-Upon-Avon

History of Holy Trinity church, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

The first written record shows that a wooden church existed at this site before 845, however, in 1210 the current building was started. The church has been modernized many times over the centuries, including being widened, lengthened, and increased in height.  With Stratford-upon-Avon's wealth of important residents, you would be correct to assume that it has many fine tombs, including probably the finest renaissance tomb in England.

As you may have heard, it was announced on the 21st September 2009, that the main east/west beam in the chancel roof is dangerously rotten, this could cause damage to the Shakespeare monument, but any of the woodwork, including the misericords.   Obviously, Holy Trinity have launched an appeal for the £50,000 required to fix this.
