The Misericords and history of Norton, St Andrew’s - Suffolk

St Andrew’s eight, 14th century misericords, which are some of the finest 14th century misericords in any East Anglian village church, eclipsed only by the misericords at St George, Stowlangtoft, a mere mile away down a footpath.

History of St Andrew’s, Norton, Suffolk.
Not much information is available about the history of St Andrew’s Norton, prior to it’s heavy-handed restoration in the mid 19th century.  It is not even known if the misericords originated here, it is most likely that they came from either Thetford Priory, to which it had close links, or they may have come from Bury Abbey, if anyone knows differently, please let me know via the contacts page.
St Andrews does not appear to have an official site, but you may like to look at Simon Knott’s page
