History of the FitzAlan chapel, Arundel Castle, Sussex.

When Richard, tenth Earl of Arundel, died in January 1376, his will decreed that a chapel should be built within the castle. Forty eight of the misericords are part of the original fixtures and fittings.  Some of the misericords had been damaged over the centuries, so when the 14th and 15th  Dukes of Norfolk were renovating during the 19th century, these misericords were replaced.
